Federal Court bans Domain Registry Of America from deceptive domain name registration switching scam.

Published: 1/29/2004

You may have received a letter in the mail from the Domain Registry Of America informing you that your domain name is expiring soon, and you can have it renewed through their service for an annual fee, etc.

While the letter looks official, it is actually a bait and switch scam, designed to get you to renew your domain name with a different company than your current registrar at a much higher cost.

The Federal Trade Commission has barred this company, based in Ontario Canada, from continuing these deceptive solicitations.

Remember, if you every have questions about your domain name renewal, you can always ask us for advice first.
