UPDATED 02/11/04:

Microsoft announced a newly discovered vulnerability in Internet Explorer that could allow an attacker to gain control of your computer.

This is considered critical and you should run Windows Update from your browser to apply the latest patch to fix this vulnerability.

A malicious webpage or HTML style email could contain a link that when clicked on, could save a file to your local computer, and then that file could run, and open a connection to a remote computer, thereby allowing someone else to take control of your computer.

With the recent heightened activity from email worms like MyDoom, you should take all precautions and immediately run windows update now.
